What an epic experience it was to swim with sharks for the first time! I want to say a massive thank you to the shark team who helped me get shots. I had many opportunities to get shots despite the big waves and the fact I was super seasick. We were lucky to have a silky shark and hammerhead shark showing really well. So awesome to be close to these apex predators. Beautiful animals. We’ve lost 90% of our sharks since the release of Jaws. Sharks are poached for their fins for shark fin soup, which is consumed by Asian cultures. It’s a symbol of status. But sharks reach sexual maturity quite late so it’s difficult for populations to recover. Another big problem is that sharks belong to the big ocean and although one country may create marine protected areas, when sharks migrate, they might be at risk of prosecution elsewhere. Had an amazing day out with Felipe, Ricardo and Erick. All three were hugely knowledgable, super friendly and fun and most importantly, SAFE. We had a slow start but rather than call it quits, as other operators have done, and head back into port without seeing anything, they checked our time constraints - we had none - and extended our trip (at no extra cost) to explore another location. Andddd then the sharks came in to play. The experience was incredible. We spent over an hour in the water with three curious young makos and got some great pics too. The boat had guests of very wide experience levels and everyone from the newbies to the seasoned old hands like me were extremely well catered for. Highly recommended!

Rough conditions didn’t stop us from exploring the Sea of Cortez 🇲🇽 . We open water swam w/a mako, fed sea lions & brown pelicans, & spotted a critically endangered tortuga carey (Hawksbill Sea Turtle) in the reefs of Cabo Pulmo National Park

Un gran shout out al crew de @orcadivebaja y a Felipe (@ocean_talks )que se rifo una operación profesional donde siempre nos sentimos cuidados pero al mismo tiempo podíamos movernos libremente para interactuar con el animal. OJO interactuar no es tocar ni molestar! Por eso es bien importante que si hacen cualquier actividad en el mar vayan con gente capacitada que se preocupa por el medio ambiente y cuida al ecosistema !
